Handles are great on colanders because you can set them on a larger pot so you can catch your rinse water. Use that water to water your plants. Enjoy your berries. I know I will because ours are ripening here in Northern California.

I use an app on the iPhone called clay lab I made 12 mugs and 12 bowls. I have some combos I like and right down what I want to put on them beforehand.

I am left-handed and throw right-handed but trim with the wheel going in the other direction. I have never seen anyone else do the same. I just cannot hold the tools in my right hand. I ruin everything if I try.

I recently made my first berry bowl and a small jug for whipped cream. I call my set “berries and cream” and I’m obsessed!!! 🤩 Yours is beautiful and now I want to make a slightly larger one for pasta!!

Hi! With the wheel rotating, a wire that's only half-way through will have already cut off the whole pot.

And over the years I’ve switched where and how I take notes (when I did). Another lesson- keep in one place/book/app etc and always have a backup master log. Ask me how that’s going!

I have terracotta clay(900°), and stoneware (1100°C). Can be they fired simultaneously? Also, do i need to clean my tools and wheel after each use to prevent one clay get into another? Or it's not really important

I love pulling handles but my style of mug is more suited to slab handles. Using that rounded tool to get a slight curve on the slab handles - genius, thanks, I'll be doing that tomorrow. I try to cut that in and it's not always successful.

Milked many a cow, and pulled many handles. They are similar, so good analogy!

Thanks for all these great reminders. I started pottery about a year ago and I am currently making my first batch of plates for my mum's birthday. So this is literally the first plates I have ever made. I have been so harsh on myself because of the little imperfections of the plates. I then stumbled into a pottery shop while on holidays and I absolutely loved every single piece that was being sold. I checked out the plates for some inspiration and realised that they all had similar imperfections like my plates. Nevertheless the plates were sold for €29. In a shop. And I liked them. BECAUSE of their imperfect style. So I guess I learned a lesson....

Thanks for the handle tips Lily. I mostly pull my handles but I’m going to try the other methods too. I mostly have problems with the rims warping when I’m attaching the handles. I don’t know if it’s because the mug body is too damp or I’m mishandling them when I apply them. But no matter how careful I am typically hard of my mugs still warp. It’s frustrating 😕
